HUGIN Graphical User Interface is slow

Some users of laptop computers have experienced the HUGIN Graphical User Interface as being slow. This is, for instance, the case for some IBM laptops (e.g. IBM model T43p) when the ATI PowerPlay option is activated.
Deactivating the PowerPlay option resolves the performance problem. The PowerPlay option seems to impact the graphics performance even when the laptop is plugged in.
