Data preprocessing - Analysis button not-active
« on: October 08, 2009, 18:37:18 »
Hugin Researcher 7.1:

When using a (EM-learning/Analysis) wizard, I would like to do some data pre-processing (discretization mainly). However, in the Data Preprocessing step I do not seem to have the functionality that the manual would suggest:

1. My Analyse button is inactive, nothing happens when I push it.
2. My drop-down list Preprocess Type, only has "Value Replace" and "External Plug-ins" and not "Exclusion" and "Discretization" as the manual describes?

Any suggestions? Thanks, Andre

Dear Andre

Discretization is only part of structural learning for establishing the node intervals. Once the intervals for a node has been decided, selecting the correct state for a specific numeric data value is trivial.

This means that discretization is not needed as part of analysis wizard and EM learning - as the numeric data are easily mapped to the propper intervals/states.
