Title: Water
Post by: Martin on June 29, 2007, 10:49:07
Preliminary model of the biological processes of a water purification plant. The network consists of four structurally identical subnetworks, each representing a time slice of 15 minutes. The network was developed by Finn V. Jensen, Uffe Kjærulff, Kristian G. Olesen, and Jan Pedersen.

(network size using optimal elimination order:  3,028,305)

Martin,
I have noticed that the water.net file (and some of the others you uploaded) have been stripped of their hugin headers (i.e. HR_Propagate_AutoSum = "1" etc).

Has this been done with a setting in Hugin Runtime or have the headers been stripped manually? (or with another tool?)

If so why? Does it add to the network in anyway? (presumably all the attributes are given default values?)

Additionally I have noticed that water.net has some additional text 'commented' into the file in some kind of free format? This would be a very useful facility in hugin but ... how do I preserve free format text beyond a call to bbn.SaveAsNet(strFullPath) etc? I understood that user defined attributes were the only way to preserve additional info in the net description?

Thanks

Gary

I suppose that the authors of the network have 'stripped' any unnecessary information from the net file themselves.

The HUGIN GUI uses the prefix 'HR_' on all of its application specific attributes (such as color and font configurations). The 'HR_' attributes are undocumented and used internally by the GUI - they are not used by the decision engine at any time. Thus they don't 'add' to the network, other than storing GUI configurations as a convenience.

Comments may be placed in a net file by manually inserting a line that begins with a percent character. Comments will be  ignored when the file is loaded, and will not be preserved when saving it again.

A thorough description of the format used in the net files can be found in the Hugin API reference manual, Chapter 12, 'The NET Language'.
